Search Engine Optimization

Whether you created your own website or you hired someone else to create it for you, there seem to be a few things that are forgotten which might effect your search engine results.  If they’re missing on your page then your page might as well be invisible.

Use descriptive file names

  • Make sure your file names are not generic.  The more descriptive they are the better.
  • The file name should reflect the contents

Use descriptive image names

  • Make sure you use descriptive names for your images.
  • Make sure you also use descriptive ALT tags for your images.

Use a few Keywords

  • Many “Professional” websites are very appealing to the eyes but don’t give search engines much of a hint as to what the web page or website is about.
  • Use at least one or two keywords that help define the focus of the web page or website.

Description

  • A brief description that is related to what the web page contains will be most helpful in producing search engine results.

Content is King

  • Make sure your content is related to the focus of your website.  Content that matches your keywords and description will be regarded as more reliable than if they’re not related.
